MOTUS TERRAE

NOT IN COMPETITION

Motus Terrae have chosen theatre in Public space as their main field of action, in various forms such as site-specific performances and street theatre shows. They also build indoor productions based on various approaches, such as devised theatre, physical theatre or the work of theatrical clown. In parallel, Motus Terrae, are organizing workshops and seminars concerning the forms of performing arts mentioned above.  Following the current, Motus Terrae choose not to function as a typical theatre group, but more like a theatro-centric core, around which artists from various domains could meet and create together. Besides the artistic creation, Motus Terrae focus also on the development of intercultural networks and in research through education.

Urban Variations in Public space 1 & 2 (these actions are part of the New Space project)

The New Space project is the expression of the need to re-define Public space. In exploring the use of a non-theatrical Public space, Motus Terrae take place in the center of the triangle that form the three primordial elements of the theatrical action: Stage-Spectator-Artistic creation. By following this direction we confront Public space is if it was a 360 degree theatre. A theatre in which every spectator is free to turn his look at any direction, literally and metaphorically, and to receive various stimulies that could eventually lead to a new perception of the given space. In the beginning, each space is considered as empty. From the very reality of the space, the fantasy of the moment will be born. Through the theatrical action the space starts being filled, in front of the eyes of the spectator, and it is in front of his eyes it will be emptied again, returning at it's original state. Through this process, the space has been transformed. All new references created by the performance, reveal a space's new dimension and they establish what Motus Terrae like to call a New Space. The New Space is a crystal sphere surrounding every spectator. The creation of this sphere aims at making the spectator look around him and realize he's a part of this space… his own space.
