General Secretariat of Youth supports the realization of innovator programs that are focusing in the spherical psychosomatic growth of young people, encourage the artistic creation and give the opportunity of aesthetical enjoyments.

In this frame, we decided to contribute in the 1st International Street Theatre Festival that is realized in Athens from the 16th to 20th of October 2009 which will liven up for five days the neighborhoods around Acropolis with small and bigger street shows.

Two hundred artists from Greece, Italy, Germany, France, Poland, Netherlands, Slovenia and Bulgaria will be inspired from the streets and the various points of the city and they will use them as stage sets in the 240 performances that they will present.

In this way, Culture will intrude in the daily life of young people; theatre will knock the doors of their neighborhood and will provide them with positive stimuli, it will trouble them in a creative way, and will make them participants in the birth of ideas and in the creation of artistic tendencies. We are aiming that the Festival will become a step to bring the Art as part of their life and to reconcile them with their reality.

We hope this year – and with our support – to inaugurate an institution which will every year transform the public areas, giving to the residents and the tourists an aesthetical emotion that will speak the universal language of Civilization in a wide audience and will give the opportunity to the artists to speak and promote their achievements. This will substantially intervene in the daily life of young people, giving them the magical touch of Art.
