Salutation of the President of City of Athens' Cultural Organization

The City of Athens Cultural Organization has always supported the art of theatre contributing thus to the emergence of culture.

As proponents of the view "Culture for all" and with the intention to implement the decision of the Mayor of Athens Nikitas Kaklamanis to improve the quality of cultural events in Athens, culture should be accessible to any group of citizens and promoted by all those who wish to do so.

The Street Theatre is bonded with the pulse of the city and the element of surprise, overwhelmed by pluralism and diversity, transforming the city areas into areas of action and creativity.

With this in mind, we support for the second year the International Street Theatre Festival, an innovative festival for our country, which contributes to the development of Street Theatre, offering thus a different adventure to the citizens of Athens, and to those who might be in our city, Greeks and foreigners, the days of the festival.

From September 30 to October 4 spaces in the historical centre and around Acropolis, will be a scene without limits with groups from Greece and abroad, with performances of Street Theatre, and projects based on other forms of art such as puppetry, shadow theatre, etc.

I wish that also this year's festival will be a success and that it will become a premier cultural event for the city of Athens.
