Teresa Clark- Kouroukli has written plays and stories for children and teenagers. She is the founder of the Εnglish Theatre Club which in the last four years has put on shows in English in theatres, parks and schools. She is also an actress and director. Dimitra Dessipri is a high school teacher and has put on plays for schools for which she has written original songs and music. She is a founding member of the Εnglish Theatre Club. Lambros Papageorgiou is an actor and graduated from the Nelli Kara drama school in 2000. He has worked for the theatre, cinema and television. He has also worked professionally as a singer. He works as an actor at the Εnglish Theatre Club since 2008. Tatiana Robertson has studied psychology specializing in Dramatherapy and is a third year drama student at the “Empros” theatre. She has acted in most of the venues of the Εnglish Theatre Club and has participated in the film “Roz” (2007) Alexandros Voulgaris Musician: Vasilis Ziakas is a self-taught accordionist who works professionally since 1990 both in Greece and abroad. He has performed “rebetico” popular and traditional songs with well known names such as Iordanis Tsomidis, Repanis, Beba Blanche, Katerina Skordalaki El Meya (Algeria). As musician and singer he has participated in the cd “15 Stray Rebetica” and in the CD of: Manolis Aggelakis, Nikol Anastasiou, N. Zourni and in independent productions. He is working as a musician at the Εnglish Theatre Club since 2008.
Kiki and the Pea
“Kiki and the Pea” is a fun musical comedy written in verses. It is inspired by the famous Andersen fairy-tale, “Τhe princess and the Pea”. What we are looking for in this project is to stimulate audience participation in the actual action of the play. Prince Dinoulis wants passionately to get married in order to get away from his oppressive Queen mother. The Queen on the other hand, is doing her best to avoid the wedding. Finally, they decide to throw a party at the palace, inviting princesses from all over the world, for Dinoulis to choose his beloved. The candidates are girls from the audience. After several funny gags, Dinoulis gets married to Kiki. But what difference does it make? Kiki and the Queen mother have something in common.....
The songs included are both original and well known songs which are sung live by the actors with the accompaniment of the accordion.
