HELIX STREET THEATRE was founded in 1987. The Company's work is considered as unique and innovative, both in our own special kind and for the full research we have conducted on modern, original forms of stage expression. The Group includes ten regular members and several guest collaborators. All members of the group are properly trained in the street theatre techniques and the performances of the group are quite impressive, as they always present some strong content. During the last years, our productions are mostly based on Greek and international myths.

The STREET THEATRE has toured almost all around Greece, participating in various events and festivals. It has also participated in several festivals in the United Kingdom, India, Egypt, Turkey, Belarus, Poland, Cyprus, and Bulgaria. We shall mention here only a few of its most prominent performances during the last years: International Festival Fringe of Edinburgh with the spectacle "Prometheus In the axis of the world" and events in High Street Edinburgh, U.K. 2002. International Centre for Cultural Relactions of India and the Greek Centre of International Institute of Theatre with the spectacle "Journey to the Sun" Mumbai, India 2002. Turkish National Committee for UNICEF with the spectacle «Street Comedy with Dreams and Illusions" Istanbul, Turkey 2005. International Theatre Festival BELAYA VEZHA with the spectacle "Street Comedy with Dreams and Illusions ". Brest, Belarus 2005. International Festival for Experimental theatre with the spectacle «Prometheus-I n the axis of the World ". Cairo, Egypt 2005. International Theatre Festival Malta «Street Comedy with Dreams and Illusions" Poznan 2006 Poland. International Puppet Theatre Festival PUPPET FAIR «Street Comedy with Dreams and Illusions" Sofia - Bulgaria 2006.The group staged –as a co-production with the Cultural Olympics and the Ministry of Culture - Peter Hantke’s “Caspar: It-is-only-me”, as a street show, within the framework of the Soliloquy Meeting. For the season of 2004 the group staged the Spectacle «The Frogs" based on the renowned play by Aristophanes. During the Athens Olympic Games the group presented "Prometheus" and «The Frogs", as well as two new spectacles –"Aeon", based on Hesiod's "Cosmogony" and "Theogony" and "Comodromos" based on Homeric Hymns.

The perfect, professionally organized shows of the STREET THEATRE, vivid and impressive, guarantee success through the participation of the audience. They comprise all the elements necessary to provide a strong, lively spectacle, full of joy, entertainment and deep meanings. The group is professionally trained in acrobatics, stilts, juggling and the art of street performing, and is perfectly competent to provide an exquisite spectacle for children as well as adults using fanciful scenery and costumes, music, theatrical lighting, the element of fire and fireworks.

The Street Theatre, unique in its kind in Greece, is distinguished amongst theatre companies in creating bonds and friendships with all authorities and people that have enjoyed its work. Since 1988, the company is listed with the Ministry of Culture sponsorship program

AEON

Main inspiration and basic axis of the performance AEON is the ancient text of Hesiod's "Cosmogony" and "Theogony" and "Comodromos" based on Homeric Hymns. The text of “Theogony” consists the holily writing of Greeks with apparent affect the epopee of Gods and the elements of Nature. The affluence of the ancient Greek language as well as the mythological and “historical” aspect of the text meets the notation arts and technology through o modern approach of the Cosmogony which is grossed from Helix Street Theatre in both classic and modern Greek language.

AEON is divided in sixteen parts that tell the story of the beginning of the World, the genealogy of Gods, the heroes and Titans. Is structured and referred in the presence of the four elements: Earth, Water, Wind and Fire. The National characteristics of the Myths are mixing with different elements, visual, musical and theatrical calling to attention the diachronism and the mutual starting points of Myths. As a result it is presented an audio visual multi spectacle with elements from theatre and arts in general that are framed in acrobatic movements.
