Invitation
The 3rd International Street Theatre Festival is a fact in Athens from June 30 to July 4 of 2011.
The 3rd International Street Theatre Festival is realized with the co-organization Cultural Organization of Municipality of Athens, the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Michael Cacoyannis Foundation and the auspice of the Hellenic Centre of the International Theatre Institute.
The Festival will take place at the areas round the historic centre of Athens round Acropolis and it includes Sintagma Square, Kallimarmaro Stadium, Ermou street, Kapnikarea Square, Monastiakiou Square, Asomaton Square at Theseum area, Apostolou Pavlou street and the parks of it, Koumoundourou square, Kerameikou square, at “Tehnopolis’’, the new Art Gallery of Athens Municipality at Metaxourgio area and Michael Cacoyannis Foundation.
“Art Market” will take place at Michael Cacoyannis Foundation. At the areas of the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation all the participations will have the opportunity to present their work through the printed program, photographs and video. At the main hall of the Foundation they will be able to present a show up to thirty minutes. At the Black Box hall of the foundation will be able to organize Seminars and Workshops. In the main hall of the foundation the award ceremony will take place presenting the awarded groups on Monday July 4, at 12.30 am.
The opening ceremony will take place at Sintagma square at 1st day of the Festival, Thursday June 30. Shows will be presented at 1st, 2nd and 3rd of July. The closing ceremony of the festival will take place at the Sintagma square at noun on Monday July 4th, with the participation of all the groups.
The Festival will maintain the structure of the 1st year and will include the Main and the Open part. In the main festival are participating more than 12 groups from Greece and abroad. In the Open part of the festival are able to participate those who will send their interest in the deadlines given.
At the Festival, all the groups can present their work in open space included Street theatre, Circus Music theatre, theatre for children, shadow theatre, puppet theatre, dancing, music, Juggling, Happening, Performance, Installation, Site-Specific, Graffiti, Break Dance, Hip-Hop etc.
The Festival covers for the groups from abroad with invitation for the main part, hospitality expenses (accommodation and food), technical support, transportations within the city and promotion.
For the Greek groups of the main part of the Festival, will be a daily compensation for the actors of the groups, technical support and promotion. For the Open part of the Festival will be an arrangement for inexpensive stay and food as well as promotion through the printed program of the Festival.
The groups and the independent artists will have to present during the three day period, three performances in total if their show is more than 30 minutes and six shows if their show is less than 30 minutes.
The awards are:
For the Main Festival:
• Award of total Proposal and Conception for a show in public area.
• Award of Proposal and Originality for a show in public area.
• Award especially for a Greek group with an invitation to participate in an International Festival that will be announced in later time.
The awards will be given by two independent Committees which are consisted by well respected personalities of theatre and art.
For the Open Festival, two Honorary awards will be given:
• Honorary award for a group, with official participation to the main Festival of 2012
• Honorary award for an In Depended artist
The Groups as well as the Artists must submit their proposals until Friday, May 15, 2011, completing the forms that are accompanying this invitation, along with five (5) photos of high resolution for the printed program and a few minute video trailers. The Groups or the Artists who will submit their proposal after May 15, they will be able to participate to the Festival but they won’t be able to compete and be part of the printed program of the Festival.
All the Groups and Artists can participate at the “Art Market” at Michael Cacoyannis Foundation with only condition the on-time submission of their proposals. For the Festival will be chosen six (6) groups from Greece and six (6) groups from abroad. The Open part of the Festival will include all the groups that will submit their proposals within the given dates.
